A
Guide to the Deeper Levels of Your Being -
Based on the Teachings of Jeru Kabbal
Edited by Leonard M. Zunin, MD, Robert Strock, MFT,
and Victoria Ritchie
About the Editors
In 2000 Jeru Kabbal died. Before he went into the hospital
for his second renal transplant, he made a request of us.
If he should die, Jeru asked that his basic teachings be presented
in a book to be read by the public.
It was not an easy challenge to accept, but we, the first
two editors of this volume, knew that Jeru’s teachings
had helped thousands. Finding Clarity is the result of accepting
that challenge with the keen awareness that these teachings
will benefit many others.
Leonard M. Zunin, MD
Leonard M. Zunin, MD, a close friend of Jeru, is the author
of many articles and two books. With his wife, Hilary, he
wrote The Art of Condolence: What to Write, Say, and Do at
a Time of Loss (HarperCollins, 1991). Dr. Zunin also authored
a best-selling book on communication, Contact: The First Four
Minutes (Ballantine, 1973, over one million copies sold).
Dr. Zunin has lead a distinguished and unique career in psychiatry,
both in private practice and in public service. He is a nationally
known lecturer and educator who, for over thirty years, has
been exploring the phenomena of greeting and parting, attachment
and loss, and post-trauma recovery.
Dr. Zunin is also a consulting psychiatrist at Napa State
Hospital, where he formerly served as a clinician and as director
of research.
He lives, loves, meditates and balances rocks with his wife,
Hilary, in Napa, California.
Robert Strock
Jerus friend, Robert Strock is a licensed Marriage, Family
and Child Therapist and ordained minister, specializing in
relationship, mid-life crises and death and dying. For the
last 30 years he has had a distinguished career of therapy
practice. His approach to therapy, when appropriate, embraces
the spiritual dimension of life, combined with a focus on
his patients’ highest potential.
Robert has devoted much of his life to helping others. He
has contributed his expertise to several foundations and is
currently president of Global Bridge Foundation, a passionate
supporter of self-sufficiency programs in developing countries.
He brings theses interests to his own family life. Robert
lives his teachings with his wife, Marilyn, and three children
in Southern California.
Victoria Ritchie
:A graduate of the California Institute of Integral Studies
in San Francisco, Victoria is both a spiritual and an astrological
counselor and works with clients in the United States and
Europe. She is also an editor of spiritual books and has worked
closely with Eckhart Tolle, editing Practicing the Power of
Now as well as working on his latest book, A New Earth. She
also offers courses and private sessions based on Eckhart
Tolle’s teachings.
Though Victoria never met Jeru Kabbal, through working so
closely with his teachings, she found a deep resonance with
his work and feels honored to help bring it into wider publication.
For several months following Jeru’s death the editors
reviewed his teachings from various sources. The archives
created by a devoted student, Nirakar
(Bernd Steffan), prior to Jeru’s death, were invaluable.
Also Naveen Visser, a dutch student of Jeru,
provided many suggestions as she reviewed the drafts. After
Jeru’s death she prepared a temporary teaching manuscript
to be used by her students, called “The Quest for Clarity,”
until this carefully reviewed edition of Finding Clarity could
be published.
